My joy has always been creating color. One of my favorite painters is Mark Rothko because he seemed to be painting only color and was involved with the emotional impact color can have whether it is joyous or subdued.
Additionally, the importance of light and atmosphere in the art of the Tonalists of the 1880’s is reflected in my work. In fact, I enjoy the elusive twilight and dusk colors as much as the sunset colors. I believe the colors I use glorify nature and cause viewers to be emotionally involved in their outdoor experiences.
